Dear Bible Skeptics

By Dale V. Nobbman

Dear Bible Skeptics,

Why do you continue to have doubts about the 'infallible' Word of God found in the Holy Bible?  Before answering this question dear skeptics, bear with me for a moment as I preface this article with something you already know by stating for the benefit of all the readers that the definition of skepticism is "any questioning attitude towards knowledge, facts and stated beliefs or opinions."  Religious skepticism is defined as "doubt concerning basic religious principles, such as immortality, providence, and revelation."  Today's modern religious skepticism typically places more emphasis on scientific evidence substantiating something as being true.

Now dear skeptics, regarding the lead question, if any written record covering the entirety of world history had a 100% track record of accuracy, what would be your reason to doubt it?  Well, perhaps you don't realize it, but what is recorded in the Bible has a 100% accuracy rate and 'nothing' has ever been proven false about anything written in the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments.  The Bible is how God, our Creator, communicated His message to man, and it has been mankinds very own personal guidebook for successful living in the past, in the present, and for the future.  The sad thing is though that fewer and fewer people are taking what the Bible has to say seriously or literally anymore, while at the very same time people and the media become fascinated and captivated by incredible predictions such as the 'end of the world' based on the old Mayan calender ending on December 21, 2012.  It seems the 'mass media' grabs onto every low percentage prediction that comes along about some 'dire' event to strike our world as just a way to 'mock' the truly real 100% accurate prophecies of things yet to come upon this world as stated in the Bible, mostly in the Book of Revelation.  It's just one of many deceptions Satan has planned to deceive the nations of earth and their people from the 'truth' found in the Bible.

Neither Nostradamus, nor all the other reputed 'seers' throughout the ages can claim 100% accuracy in their visions.  Even well-known radio personality, Rush Limbaugh, 'boasts' that he is right 99.7% of the time in his predictions about primarily secular issues.  "Don't doubt me" he says, but I'm sorry Rush, sorry Nostradamus, sorry all of you other past and present false prophets, self-proclaimed psychics, and other 'wise in your own eyes' people...your resume of accuracy would never qualify you as a true prophet of God, because all the truly Godly prophets found exclusively in the Bible have a 100% accuracy record, yes, every one of them.  When God speaks through a prophet the accuracy rate for predictions is always 100%, and in many cases Bible prophecy is laid out with exact details and precise timing.  Whatever has been predicted in the Bible can be relied upon to be true without exception.  There is no such thing as 99.999% accuracy with God!  Our Omniscient Godhead, which includes Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, will always have a 100% accuracy rating.

In contrast, we mere humans have no way of being perfect or understanding everything about this world, nor everything recorded in the Bible, even though Christians have the benefit of the illuminating work of the Holy Spirit in helping them interpret Bible scripture.  However, the unsaved person cannot experience the illuminating ministry of the Spirit since he is blinded to the truth of God (1 Corinthians 2:14) and he considers what he does know of scripture as foolishness.  God clearly states in the book of Isaiah that "My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways...for as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts."  After all, imagine If we mere 'mortals' could understand 'everything' stated in the Bible, then I would perceive that to be a problem!  I would not want to be able to understand everything about the 'ways and thoughts' of our 'awesome' God with our tiny little brains, because we just don't have that kind of brainpower to comprehend everything about the God of all Creation.  God actually wants us to accept many things simply on 'faith.'  Yes, there are things in the Bible, especially regarding some of the imagery we cannot fully understand, and there are places and things named in the Bible archaeologists have yet to find and confirm, but that by no means takes away from the truth of everything written in the Bible.  Fact is, everything that has been researched, discovered and revealed to us these days regarding things mentioned in the Bible always end up confirming the historical accuracy of recorded events in the Bible and 'never' prove Bible facts to be untrue.

The Bible was written over the span of some 1,600 years by about 40 different authors who were 'inspired' by God to write down His message to mankind without error and without contradictions.  All Scripture is God-breathed and the men who wrote it were "carried along by the Holy Spirit."  Jesus made it clear in the New Testament book of Matthew that every letter and every word in the Bible is important, and the Old Testament prophecies would be fulfilled exactly as spelled out letter by letter and word by word.  Please...just take a moment and think about the precision harmony achieved in the Holy Scriptures over a 1,600 year span.  How amazing is that?  It's not like these 40 authors met in a room together at some point in time and plotted out how they would syncronize what they each would write in order to have everything 'perfectly' conform so as to fool all of us billions of gullible people living over the following centuries right up to the present 21st century.  I mean really, even if this group of about 40 men would have met together and plotted out the writing of the Bible, there is still no way humanly possible they could have pulled it off without mistakes or contradictions.  Godly inspiration is the only answer.  It's when you consider the big picture in how the biblical books were written over the course of about 16 centuries that you can really appreciate such things in the Bible as Isaiah's prophecy about the birth of Jesus Christ 700 years before it happened!

Since the Bible has 'perfect' accuracy up to the current day, there is no reason to doubt 'anything' written in the Bible, or about the future events yet to come.  Heaven and Hell are real places, Satan is real, angels and demons do exist, life was created and not evolved, there is a coming 'Rapture' of Christians, followed by the seven-year Tribulation Period and the activity of the Antichrist during that period of time, concluding with the Battle of Armageddon, which is immediately followed by the 1,000 year millennium reign of Jesus Christ on earth.  These things and many others found in the Bible are real and true, including future 'judgements' at various times of all of us by Jesus Christ, who will determine our 'eternal' destinations based on either our belief in Him, the Son of God, or our rejection of Him during our current earthly life.

In conclusion dear Bible skeptics, if the Bible had only a 99.9% accuracy rate, you would then have a case to be skeptical about it, but since Bible accuracy is 100% perfect, your reason to be skeptical is bogus!  You can go ahead and be skeptical about everything else in this world, but 'not' what the Bible has to say about anything! And if you remain skeptical about the Bible, it is only because you have not read and studied the books of the Bible in depth.  So why not study the Bible and melt your doubts away?  The only thing you have to lose by not believing what the Bible has to say is your eternal life in Heaven!  Dear Bible Skeptics, please think twice about not believing what is written in the Bible, and not believing in Jesus Christ.  We all live on eternally 'somewhere' and Hell and the Lake of Fire are not good destination points!

I know these things because the Bible tells me so, and if you'll read the Bible you can know them too!  It would be great if all 'skeptics' would become 'seekers' instead.

"Seek the Lord while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near.  Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the Lord, for the Lord will have compassion on him and abundantly pardon."  (Isaiah 55:6-7)

Jesus is the One, and the only One, we ALL need to trust...for He, the Son of God, died and shed His redeeming blood on a cross long ago for us...and if we only will believe in Him...then as Jesus did, we will live again...in Heaven.  When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we are spiritually born anew...and then we realize ALL of God’s Word in the Bible is true.  Jesus Christ died for us and in return we should live for Him...because He saves ALL of us, who believe in Him, from ALL of our lifelong sins!
