The Christmas
Story in Song
By Dale V.

Christmas songs
have already
made the
national news
this year as we
approach another
Christmas
season.
Unfortunately,
it seems that
almost every
year now,
someone,
somewhere tries
to restrict the
singing of
religious
Christmas carols
and hymns in
public holiday
programs during
the Christmas
season—especially
those songs
which
specifically
mention the name
of Jesus Christ,
and all the
other songs
celebrating His
birth. How sad,
because the
birth of Jesus
Christ is the
very reason we
celebrate the
Christmas
season.
Thankfully, most
of us still love
singing the old
standard
Christmas hymns
and carols every
December. A few
years back I
realized the
biblical
Christmas story
pertaining to
the birth of our
Savior, Jesus
Christ, could be
told by simply
using the titles
from many of our
famous
traditional
Christmas
religious hymns
and carols. See
how many
Christmas song
titles you and
your family can
recognize in the
following story.
It came upon a
midnight clear,
while shepherds
watched their
flocks by night
that angels we
have heard of on
high, proclaimed
joy to the
world!
For away in a
manger there is
born to you this
day in the city
of David, a
Savior who is
Christ the Lord.
And as the
angels from the
realms of glory
beheld the first
noel, hark! The
herald angels
did sing, oh
come, oh come
Emmanuel, and oh
come all ye
faithful to see
what child is
this?
Go tell it on
the mountain
that it is the
sweet little
Jesus boy, born
on this silent
night, oh holy
night, in the,
oh so little
town of
Bethlehem.
Tidings of
comfort and joy
to you and your
kin this
Christmas
season!
