Something To Smile About

By Dale V. Nobbman

It seems more and more difficult for people to find anything to ‘smile’ about in these increasingly dark days we find ourselves living.  Humanity is rapidly progressing  into the ‘end-times’ events as described in the Bible, and a person only needs to follow the world news to see that many of these foretold happenings are now unfolding all around us right before our eyes.  The depressing and frightening events we see and hear about on a daily basis can cause even the most joyful hearted Christian to feel a bit gloomy from time to time.  So, let’s pause for a moment and consider a couple verses from the Bible that may bring a smile or grin to your face today.

As you may or may not know, there are approximately 7 billion people living on the Earth today and most of the time it feels like 99% of those people line up as fast as they can to either, curse, deny, reject, or just plain hate anything to do with God, Jesus Christ, Christianity, or the Word of God in the Bible.  Well, in reality, probably 99% of all the population of the Earth today, and of all the people that have ever lived since God created Adam and Eve, have willingly and faithfully obeyed God’s first couple commandments to mankind found in the Bible.

In the very first words God spoke to Adam and Eve—God said to them “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”  (Genesis 1:28)

And God gave Noah and his family the very same directive when they exited the Ark after the great flood waters had dried up from the earth.  God said to them “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.”  (Genesis 9:1)

Today, with a population of 7 billion and all the ‘subduing’ of the earth that goes along with that number of people living on our planet, it’s obvious that mankind has done a ‘fabulous’ job of being fruitful, multiplying, and subduing the earth—just as God ‘commanded’ us to do!!!

Maybe we should keep it a ‘secret’ (just among Christians) that almost all the people across time have ‘willingly’ obeyed the very first couple commandments of the One True God, the Father of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.  After all, I just don’t know what all the ‘atheists’ and other non-Christian peoples around the world would do if they found out they have actually been ‘obeying’ God’s first commandments all these years!

(It’s o.k. to ‘smile’ now if you feel so inclined!)
