The British Are Coming, The Biritish Are Coming

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18  KJV 

13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words."

Picture this, the year was 1775 and the colonies wanted independence from Great Britain.  Paul Revere, a hero of the American Revolution and immortalized in the poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere, kept vigil while the residents of the Boston area slept comfortably in their beds.  Paul waited patiently for a sign from a nearby church tower to indicate impending danger from the British.  When the signal came, he immediately jumped on his horse and rode from town to town crying out, "The British are coming, the British are coming!"  This action enabled the sleeping people to arise and prepare for what was to come; many  lives were spared by not being caught unaware.

 

Today the world also faces crucial danger, an event more colossal than any we have ever experienced is about to happen.  Just as on the night of April 18, 1775, the world is in deep slumber.  Fortunately, we too have town criers who are willing to keep abreast of the events that are leading up to this inevitable occurrence, The Rapture of the Church.

 

With the Rapture quickly approaching, I can never do enough for my Lord, especially considering all He has done for me.  I regard myself as a "Town Crier," a job I take  very seriously.  I dutifully check the Bible prophecy sites daily and intently follow current news as well.  I am constantly searching for red flags, signs given to us in "Bible Prophecy" for which we are instructed to watch. When I come across a warning from the Bible such as: false prophets, wars, earthquakes, famines, signs in the sky, et cetera,  I immediately jump on my imaginary horse and ride off to spread the news I have just discovered.  It is always my hope that through my efforts, I will awaken someone from their slumber and they will be spared the terror of "The Great Tribulation"  that is to come.

 

Everyone may not be called to be a pastor, teacher, or a missionary; however, there is always a job one can  do in the "End Times" to help warn people about the approaching danger.  You may not go down in the annals  of history as did Paul Revere on his midnight ride, or have a famous poet put your effort to verse. You can, however, have consolation in knowing that as a "Town Crier" you have helped spread the alarm to those who slumber.

 

We are approaching the midnight hour.  As the Bible tells us, it is not the Lord's will that any perish.  Wake up from your slumber people. "Jesus is coming, Jesus is coming!"
